Building a Better Tomorrow.
Since our founding in 2012, Zion Community has been committed to fostering a sustainable future for vulnerable groups in Eastern Uganda. As of 2023, we have been registered as an official NGO. We serve our community in the following three areas.
Health: We provide essential medical care and immunizations to combat high mortality rates and strive to give our youth the chance at a longer, healthier life.
Education: We equip children with the knowledge and skills necessary to earn a career, support our community, and provide for themselves and their families.
Sustainability: We implement different local projects to provide for the community and the clinic. Please click the button below to learn about our past, present, and future projects and how they are transforming our society.
Our Clinic
In the Butoto subcounty, there are over 25,000 residents, including approximately 1,800 children under the age of 15 that previously did not have access to healthcare. The closest hospital is nearly 2 hours away and separated by dangerous mountains without any streets. People in this area still die frequently from preventable diseases, and mothers deliver their babies at home. Our clinic provides vital services to this population, with trained staff, and are able to receive child immunizations, vision and dental screenings, and lifesaving emergency care every day. Click the button below for more information on our clinic, it's history, and our mission.
Educating Our Youth
Located 15km from the clinic, our partner organization, the Bushiwi Community Development Project, oversees our nursery and primary school. They provide a vital educational foundation for our youth. Students are taught a curriculum of English, Lumasaba (the local language), Reading Comprehension and Composition, Science, Religion, Mathematics and History/Social Studies. The school is in dire need of resources for the students, and we struggle to provide our teachers with livable wages. For only $28, or 25€, you can provide an entire trimester of education for one student. Use the link below to visit the BCDP's website and see how your support can transform a life.
"Peter and the team created an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. The atmosphere was warm, full of laughter and surrounded by beautiful nature. We (a doctor and a non-doctor) spent our time helping out at the clinic working with different locals and joining immunization outreaches in the nearby villages.
Whether you have a medical background or not, there’s always a way to help."
